Assistant Professor at IT University of Copenhagen

I am working as an Assistant Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen at the Department of Computer Science. My research focus is human-centred Machine Learning. I am focussing on generative AI mainly in the visual domain, to use images and videos for the analysis and synthesis of human faces and human motion. One domain is machine learning in mental health applications. I am grateful to be able to pursue this direction with our new PhD student Martin Trinhammer, who has a background in psychology. This ties well into the grant I got from the Lundbeck Foundation last year, where the project deals with the same domain. We aim at learning more about different mental disorders, to improve their diagnosis, personalize health care, and improve access. While this is challenging in itself, we are working on different aspects of ensuring privacy of the patient data. To get a better understanding of my research and interests, please check my publications, and student projects. Additionally, I am affiliated with the Pioneer Centre for AI, active member and board member of the Lundbeck Foundation Investigator Network.

Currently, I am happily co-supervising the following three bright PhD students:

The first PhD student René Haas, whom I co-supervised with Sami S. Brandt, finished end of 2023, and delivered an excellent thesis. More details about his work will be published here.
